JC Writing Club

The purpose of the JC Writing Club is to provide a supportive environment where creative writers can learn, write, share, and improve. The goal is to nurture confident, successful writers with publishing credits.

Meeting Dates:

The JC Writing Club meets once a month as a large group on the first Tuesday of September, October, November, February, March, and April from 3-4 p.m. in an ASI small lecture hall, usually room 115. Small break-out writing workshop groups (i.e. a prose group, a poetry group) meet at least once a month during a time, day, and place that is mutually agreed upon by the writing group.

Events:

At monthly large meetings, guest speakers will provide information about writing in general. Students will also have the opportunity to read works-in-progress during the "open mic" portion of the meeting. There is time for one page of work per reader.

Annually in the spring, it is the goal of the group to print a journal of literature and art "Controlled Chaos" that accepts submissions from students, faculty, and staff of °Ä²Ê¿ª½±Íø. The publication of the journal will be celebrated with a public reading event to be held in late April or early May.

Additional events may include attendance at writing conferences.
