Post-Graduation Licensure

A graduate of °Ä²Ê¿ª½±Íø Nursing Program, Level I/PN or Level II/RN is eligible to apply to the Missouri State Board of Nursing to take the NCLEC-PN or NCLEX-RN examination. Successful completion of this examination is necessary to become licensed as a practical (L.P.N.) or registered professional nurse (R.N.).

HOWEVER, successful completion of the nursing program DOES NOT guarantee eligibility to take the licensure examination. Since one of the functions of the Missouri State Board of Nursing is to protect the public, the Board may refuse licensure to applicants who may jeopardize the well-being of Missouri citizens. The Missouri State Board of Nursing may also refuse to grant the student permission to take licensing exams or refuse to issue any certificate of registration of authority, permit, or license for the cause(s) outlined in the Missouri State Nurse Practice Act Chapter 335.066 (1-16) 2015.

Practical and Registered nurse licensure in Missouri is under the control of the Missouri State Board of Nursing. The Board determines eligibility requirements for candidates who apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) and Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
