Social Work Education & Careers, April 2, 2024

Special thanks to all that attended, we had a great turnout!  The event included representatives from a variety of Accredited B.S.W. programs and social work professionals from a variety of practice settings.


Guest Speakers in Social Welfare & Policy Services Class (SWK 205)

Tom Nicholls zoomed in to join us from Capitol Hill! He is AARP’s Government Affairs Director and serves AARP’s 38 million members and all older Americans as a federal lobbyist and public policy expert on Social Security issues.  

Mary Beth Dixon, pictured below, is a Senior Advisor at NRTA: AARP’s Educator Community and leads nationwide efforts on membership and volunteer development.  She received her MSW in Social and Economic Development from Washington University.  

Guest Speaker in Social Work Class


Social Work Lab (SWK 110) is an 8 week course, where Social Work students visit social service agencies and hear (firsthand) from social work professionals about their work with a specific population.
  
This session some of our visits included: Annie's Hope Center for Grieving Kids, DaVita Dialysis, and Crystal Oaks Skilled Nursing center among others.
