What is Health Information Technology (HIT)?

Health Information Technology (HIT) represents healthcare, business, and technology. HIT professionals organize and manage health information by ensuring its quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security. They safeguard protected health information throughout organizations. The increasing use of electronic health records (EHR) will continue to broaden the job responsibilities of health information technicians. HIT Professionals can specialize in many aspects of health information including medical billing and coding, data analytics, privacy and security, release of information, revenue cycle, clinical documentation improvement, and much more!

The two-year hybrid HIT Program is dedicated to producing competent health care professionals. Careers in Health Information Technology offer a variety of exciting opportunities for graduates.  After successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to sit for the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification.
