The Occupational Therapy Assistant program at 澳彩开奖网 is an Associate of Applied Science Degree Program and consists of:

• 15-17 credit hours of prerequisite courses
• 9-12 credit hours of general education courses
• 49 credit hours of OTA classroom instruction, labs, and fieldwork practicum

Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapy assistant administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). In addition, most states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. Note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate鈥檚 ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.

鈥淪tudents must complete Level II fieldwork within 12 months following completion of the didactic portion of the program.鈥�

Debbie Wolk, MHS, OTR/L has been an occupational therapist for 22 years. She graduated from Maryville University with a Bachelors of Psychology and OT then proceeded to gain her Masters of Health Sciences in OT from the University of Indianapolis. Debbie has worked in various working settings as a practitioner in rural southeast MO including pediatrics, outpatient, hospital-based, geriatrics and management. She served as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator/Assistant Professor for 澳彩开奖网's OTA Program from 2011-2014 when it was developed and received initial accreditation. She has been a speaker for AOTA's National Conference. Debbie enjoys volunteering within her community for non-profit organizations and spending time with her family.
